Anthony, this is a good video but it doesn’t answer one specific objection I’ve heard from Muslims:
Jesus was GIVEN authority to forgiven sins (by Allah) therefore Jesus wasn’t God.
How would you respond to this line of reasoning?
In John 9:38 Jesus was also worshipped. Worship is for God alone, hmmm , He accepts worship, so therefore He is God

This is an excellent video and correctly and faithfully refutes the Muslim’s argument. I would like to extend Anthony’s argument in support of faithful Lutheran teaching (i.e., biblical) wherein the pastor, upon hearing the confession of sins by the penitent says, “Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” More than one Evangelical has objected to my saying such words with the response, “Who are you to make such a pronouncement? Only God can forgive sins.” To which I respond, “Yes, and those to whom Jesus has given exactly that charge.” (Matt. 16:19; John 20:23). Now, if Jesus had not issued such a command, then my words would be exactly that, my words and therefore have no efficacy. However, because they are Christ’s words placed in the mouth of a man by His command, then they are His Words (Lk. 10:16). For this is the very reason for the church: to pronounce forgiveness of sins! This is the Gospel, the Gospel pronounced! The one thing Christ called His apostles to carry out and then after them pastors is the one thing rarely even heard today within American Christianity. It is through such preaching of the Gospel that the church is edified and grown up into Him who is the Head, even Jesus Christ (Jn. 20: 19-23; Eph. 4:11-16; Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 1:23; 2:2; 9:16).
