Muhammad Breaks His Promise

After Muhammad got caught having sex with his slave-girl in the bed of one of his wives, he promised his wives that he would stop having sex with his slave-girl. Allah, however, allowed Muhammad to break this oath, and to continue having sex with his slave-girl, Mary the Copt. Allah even gave Muhammad a revelation in the Qur’an (66:1-3) allowing him to break his oaths to his wives.

May Wood get punished he is able want to harm Islam in debate :rage:

First of all let’s talk about the Tafsir

Since quran doesn’t explicitly mention the context. The commentators/scholars having to link in, using scriptures to see what the right scenario was. The classical commentators provide two opinions: one is strong and authentic, and the other is weaker. The authentic tafsir that scholars have agreed upon is below:

“Aisha reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would spend time with his wife Zainab bint Jahsh and he would drink a concoction of honey. Hafsa and I agreed that whomever the Prophet visited first, we would say, “I notice a strong odor of mimosa gum on you.” The Prophet visited one of them and she said this to him, so the Prophet said: I have taken a honey drink at Zainab’s house and I will not do it again.
The verse was revealed:
Why do you forbid yourself from what Allah has made lawful for you? (66:1)”

Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1474, Grade: Sahih
Source: Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 63, Number 192

The authenticity of this narration is agreed upon according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim. Al-Bukhari included it in his explanation of Sūrat al-Taḥrīm. Moreover, Aisha was the direct witness about whom the verses speak, so she would know best what really happened.

An alternative explanation of the passage has been narrated by others. In this version, the Prophet prohibits himself from being intimate with his concubine wife to please his other wives. In particular, it is alleged that Hafsa became upset when the Prophet was intimate with Maria,

This narration comes on the authority of Zaid ibn Aslam who was from the third generation and not a witness to the events in question. Hence, Ibn Hajar rules that this narrations’s chain of authorities is incomplete (mursal) in Fatḥ al-Bārī 9/288. For this reason, the explanation was not universally agreed upon by the classical commentators.

Al-Qurtubi mentions first the story of Aisha followed by narrations that include Maria, then he says:
“The most correct of these opinions is the first of them, and the weaker of them are the others.”
Source: Tafsīr al-Qurṭubī 66:1

Ibn Al-Arabi concludes:
“Indeed, the only authentic narration is that it was about honey, that the Prophet drank it with Zainab, and Aisha and Hafsa pretended to be offended by it. There occurred what occurred and the Prophet made an oath never to drink it again. He confided that to his wife and the verse was revealed regarding all of them.”
Source: Aḥkām al-Qur’ān 66:1

In sum, the story about the dispute between Hafsa, Maria, and the Prophet does not have a strong basis in Islam. It is part of the apocryphal traditions that are of varying and questionable degrees of authenticity. Rather, the strongest explanation of the passage, passed down by the direct witness Aisha through an unbroken chain of authorities, is that the verses were revealed about a honey drink.

===============================
Because you are trying so hard to portray Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) as a bad person. For the sake of argument let us analyze the tafsir you mentioned.

[[Point 1]] :: Was it immoral to be intimate with concubine?

From your channel I understand that you are a christian. Then why such hypocrisy? There are many verses in bible that mention concubine.

Genesis 35:22
It came about while Israel was dwelling in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it. (This is totally unacceptable in Islamic view)

2 Samuel 5:13
Meanwhile David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron; and more sons and daughters were born to David.

1 Kings 11:3
Solomon had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines.

Judges 8:30-31
Now Gideon had seventy sons who were his direct descendants, for he had many wives. His concubine who was in Shechem also bore him a son, and he named him Abimelech.

2 Chronicles 11:21
Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom more than all his other wives and concubines. For he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

Genesis 22:23-24
Bethuel became the father of Rebekah; these eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah and Gaham and Tahash and Maacah.

1 Chronicles 1:32
The sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, whom she bore, were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan were Sheba and Dedan.

1 Chronicles 7:14
The sons of Manasseh were Asriel, whom his Aramean concubine bore; she bore Machir the father of Gilead.

…etc…

If you look into judaism and christianity, having sex with concubine is permissible.

Def of CONCUBINE: marital companion of inferior status to a wife. Source: jewishvirtuallibrary.org

“The biblical definition and usage of the word concubine is not the same as current dictionary usage. A current dictionary defines a concubine as ‘a woman living in a socially recognized state of concubinage’ and then defines concubinage as ‘cohabitation of persons not legally married.’ (Webster’s, p. 232.) In biblical times, a concubine was a legally married wife, usually of a second class status either because of social order, economic position, race, or nationality (a foreigner). Concubines had legal status and rights as wives, although not always of the same order or magnitude as the rights of “first wives.”
Source: Daniel H. Ludlow, in A Companion to Your Study of the Old Testament, p.11

Historically throughout the world at that time it was neither taboo nor was considered immoral.

Islamic context: Before Muhammad(PBUH), In arab daughters used to be buried alive as they were considered disgrace or their parents feared that their daughter will be ravaged by the society. You can very well understand the status of women before Islam in arab. They were considered as an object of entertainment only. Concubinage were already highly intigrated into the society. Concubines could be tortured, used for prostitution, killed or forced to do anything. The children born from them had no identity. Their rights was a laughable thing.

Islam abolished such horrific practices and established the rights of concubines. Islam gave concubines a status similar to wife. The owner was bound to provide them same food, clothing, shelter as themselves. Children from both wife and concubine were to be known after their father and had same priviledge and rights. If owner decides to be intimate with his concubine and a child is born from her, then he no longer can separate her from the child by selling ownership of her. Any form of torture (even a slap) to any concubine was made totally prohibited and could result in, the owner losing his ownership. It was not permissible to burden slaves or concubines with work more than they could handle.

Mariya (may Allah be pleased with her) was a concubine of Muhammad (PBUH) who was given to him as a gift from egyptian ruler Almukawkes.

Ibn Sa’d said:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) lodged her – meaning Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah and her sister with Umm Sulaym bint Milhaan, and the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered upon them and told them about Islam. He took Mariyah as a concubine and moved her to some property of his in al-‘Awaali… and she became a good Muslim.
Al-Tabaqaat al-Kubra, 1/134-135

So neither in context of Islam or other religion nor in the historical context of that time, being intimate with concubine was considered immoral.

[[Point 2]] :: Was it necessary for Muhammad (PBUH) to justify his action?

From what I’ve stated above we can understand that having sex with concubine was neither immoral nor unlawful at that time.
Islam permitted two institution for a man and a woman to be intimate (Marriage, Concubinage) and prohibited other means (prostitution, girlfriend-boyfriend etc). In various places in Quran “right hand possess” is mentioned and in every place it is mentioned alongside “wife”.

“… marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if you fear that you cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the concubines) that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that you will not do injustice. - 4:3”

This is verse of Surah Nisa which was revealed long before Surah At tahreem which we are talking about here.

So before the revelation of Surah At Tahreem it was already permissible by the Quran to be intimate with wife and concubine.

Then why in your video you are mentioning several times “not married to”?

From above we can conclude that it was not necessary for Muhammad (PBUH) to newly justify his action in Surah At tahreem. If Muhammad (PBUH) was truly the writer of Quran he need not have put this family matter in Quran for all of his followers to read it as long as Quran exists because it was nothing controversial regarding his time.

And ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

You need some strippers on your show, :japanese_ogre::japanese_ogre::japanese_ogre:

I know this is off topic but did you see what pope said on sept 26 2015 at new York at st Patrick just saying

Can you tell us about ethics of Islam, coexistence of Christian and Muslims under Islamic states, and for centuries, just for a change

One question: why were Muhammad’s wives even angry with him? Allah allowed men to have intercourse with their slaves, so Muhammad wasn’t doing anything wrong according to Islam. Or not?

The people who narrated the hadith must be kicking themselves because they only seem to expose Muhammad as the nasty immoral self centred rogue who could do anything he wanted in the name of “Allah”. its also no wonder Muslims are VERY selective about that they reveal about the Quran, even to Muslims who seem blissfully ignorant of what their “god” teaches them, so call every one who does show what it teaches liars! It seems that its the terrorist and extremists who follow what the Quran and Hadiths say, but most muslims who just believe it because they are born and raised in it and only recite and don’t have a clue what their books actually teach, so assume that those terrorist and extremists cant be real Muslims.

That is the reason why one can’t trust a Muslim, their self proclaimed prophet didn’t keep his promises, and he allowed and authorized lying under different terminologies,
Every Muslim should know what thighing is, Muhammed did that to his 6years old bride aisha, he carried it out all the way to ejaculating,
I’m sick to my stomach,

Also check out ““bacha-bazi””,
Pakistani and afghan Mujahideens war on small little boys.

Shame on them and their false prophet Muhammed,

very interesting something new im going to look into to see both sides but you guys are doing great job this will defintley help Christians in Britain

no wonder muslims love to lie… For muhammad himself lied like a sport… according to muhammad’s life islamic sources

If just half of all the millions of Muslims in the world actually took the time to study their religion there would be a great falling away from Islam.

This is one perverted illiterate!

Muhammad sick and pervert sinner…fornication and lust are capital sin.

Why didnt Act 7 talk about Taqiyya or Kitman(Islamic holy lies to unbelievers)???
Trying to make Islam look better than it is??

There was no fault for Muslims enjoying what Allah made lawful, right? So believer say there is no shame in this.

“Mohammed’s word is as good as gold - fool’s gold.”
Very apt.

did any of you brothers and sisters know that muhammad prayed three times a day just like the jews and he even prayed towards jerusalem.

did any of you know the muhammad in mecca was quite peaceful, but the muhammad in medina was a war warmongering pagan worshipper?

Allah is hilariously concerned about so little. If the wives were a little jealous over a honey drink (when has a honey drink ever not been sweet smelling?) would that warrant allowing Muhammad to divorce all of his wives for better ones (66:5) and for all Muslims, angels and Allah to be against them? It fails me to understand how something so trivial would make Hafsa upset to tell Aisha and for Aisha to also be upset and warrant divorce over.

Sex with concubine is not unusual but doing it in your wife’s bed while visiting her is the problem.

what did the holy father say?
