The Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Every Muslim who is physically and financially able to perform the Hajj must do so at least once in life. The Hajj takes place annually during the last month (Dhu al-Hijjah) of the Islamic lunar calendar.

The pagan practices ur talking about were originally founded upon the religion of Abraham, but they mixed shirk with that. For example, Hajj was done by the pagans, but it was originally revealed to Abraham. Islam came along to fix this once and for all.
If you know anything about Islam than you would know the direction to pray is not really important Qibla was chosen just so that people would face the same direction and feel connected to everyone. The direction to pray could have been the North Pole and it still wouldn’t matter. Also it was not chosen to please mohammad but more like he was instructed to chose the location he pleased.
What if mohammad made islam as a joke but it got out of control
